here's a taster of my final story board with my final initial idea!
the story to my animation is a shot of my floor with random objects i own that scatter together on the floor space to create a big tribal mask of my own and to create different facial expressions to the music - kinda like an art attack!

thinking about ditching the plastercine?
during some more experiments i started to come across different textures i had produced and thought about putting them together for a completely different approach to making a tribal mask i thought it would become alot more interesting looking rather than plastercine!

experimentation in the darkroom!
This blog post is all about the workshops I had in the darkroom, experimenting with lighting and exposure and learning how to use the enlargers etc. Its not the first time i've used the darkroom, but i still got to learn a lot more, and it really interests me experimenting with lighting.
The first workshop we had a tutorial on how to be safe in the darkroom and how to use the equipment. The next session we had we were allowed to bring all sorts in to play around and produce images ourselves to produce Rayograms. Luckily I had some developed negative films i brought in to have a play around with aswell as other objects.. here are some of what I produced...

stop motion workshop..
This was the very short 3 sec animation tester, my group produced in the stop motion animation suite in the harmer building for a quick workshop one day. We used a software called 'i can animation' that let us take snapshots of what was going on straight to the computer to then automatically stream into a stop motion animation. I found this very handy and very easy to use, and would like to use more of this technique making my animation.

storyboard..
So being very interested in the tribal masks I decided to use this in my animation and drew out a rough storyboard on how my animation will go, however developments and changes may come along!
The story of my story board is simply some sort of character with a tribal mask on, coming onto the screen having a little look about and then starting to dance to the music, where music notes etc are moving about with him. I was thinking about doing my animation as a stop motion animation as i've been quite inspired by some of the other stop motions i've seen previous to this blog post!

BLU
Here is another animation done by an art company called BLU, which is a whopping 8 mins long. its amazing how many photos and how long it must of taken!
its so clever in the way the grafitti has gone over and over each time to get some slight movement from the creatures.

Oren Lavie..
Here is another great example of stop motion animation, which is a music video for a song 'Her Morning Elegance' By Oren Lavie. I love how clever it is and I like the camera angle as it is shot from above, like a birdseye view!

PRINT TO PIXEL
So here's to a new start of a new module print to pixel, which is all about animation and learning about all the different techniques of animation, for example stop motion, flip book and cell animation. Each group has been assigned a different piece of music to animate to. My group got a piece of music 'Tribal by Gustavo Santaolalla''.
